Dreher and Lancaster delivered the kind of region game that refused to settle. Momentum changed hands, the flags kept the night tense and every late possession carried championship weight.

Lancaster ultimately outlasted Dreher 28–22, surviving a fourth-quarter rally and a disputed fumble sequence that became the game’s defining moment.

Lancaster flips the game

Lancaster carried a 14–7 lead into the third quarter before its defense found the play that changed the temperature. Terrion Lineberger, No. 7, brought down the Dreher quarterback for a sack and safety. Lineberger finished the night with 24 sacks on the season, and his pressure gave Lancaster an immediate chance to seize the field.

Lancaster took advantage on the ensuing kickoff. Jy'seer Stover, No. 2, fielded the kick and raced it back for a touchdown, turning two points into a sudden seven-point swing and putting the Bruins in front.

Dreher refuses to fade

For much of the night, Dreher's offense was held in check. Three interceptions thrown by quarterback Aiden Fitzgerald, No. 15, made the early deficit harder to escape. But the Blue Devils kept answering when the game demanded it.

Fitzgerald found Dylan Richardson, No. 14, for a touchdown, and Dreher stayed aggressive by converting the two-point try on a Fitzgerald quarterback run. In the fourth quarter, the same connection struck again: Fitzgerald to Richardson for the tying touchdown.

The comeback turned the final minutes into a test of composure. Lancaster's defense bent, then kept playing the next snap.

In a game this tight, one possession can feel like a verdict. Lancaster made its last one count.

A disputed finish

On Lancaster's final possession, Dreher believed it had recovered a fumble on a bang-bang play at roughly the 22:07 mark of the game film. No fumble was awarded, and Lancaster kept the ball.

The Bruins turned that extra life into the touchdown that produced the final 28–22 margin. It was a painful ending for Dreher, but also the clearest snapshot of a game decided by inches, whistles and who could finish the final drive.

Two teams, one last region test

Lancaster now carries the defensive edge into its Oct. 30 matchup with a hot Lugoff-Elgin team, with the region championship on the line. The Bruins will need another performance built on pressure and timely stops.

Dreher closes the 2026 season against A.C. Flora, looking to finish with the same fight it showed in a game that came down to the final whistle.
